The Jackson Public School District is currently the state's largest district, with a population of approximately 32,000 students. Although the school district is based in Jackson, Mississippi, the district also serves a portion of the Byram community.
There are over 30 elementary schools, 10 middle schools, 20 high schools, 2 private schools (St. Andrew's Episcopal School and St. Joseph Catholic High School), and 2 special schools (Capital Alternative School and Mirrison Academic Advancement Center).
